    Growing the Colorado Semiconductor Industry: Microchip to Expand in Colorado Springs

    COLORADO SPRINGS – Today, Governor Polis and the Global Business Development Division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) will join Microchip, a leading producer of semiconductor devices, and the U.S. Department of Commerce, to announce a historic preliminary memorandum of terms (PMT) resulting in $90 million to modernize and expand a Microchip fabrication facility in Colorado Springs as part of $162 million in overall direct funding to support the company's semiconductor supply chain.

    Governor Polis and Colorado Broadband Office Announce Unprecedented Funding for Broadband through Advance Colorado Broadband Grant Program

    DENVER - Today, Governor Polis announced the first of multiple investments using stimulus funding from the U.S. Treasury’s Capital Projects Fund (CPF) program. The Polis administration will use $113 million from CPF to make major, long-term improvements, including expanding the state’s broadband infrastructure and connecting Colorado homes without internet access.

    Governor Polis and the Department of Natural Resources Release Pollinator Report

    BROOMFIELD - Today, Governor Polis in partnership with The Colorado Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Colorado State University Extension, Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, and University of Colorado Museum of Natural History released the Colorado Native Pollinating Insects Health Study which is the most robust and detailed account of pollinator health ever undertaken in Colorado history. As directed by SB22-199, Native Pollinating Insects Protection Study, sponsored by Senators Sonya Jaquez Lewis and Kevin Priola, and Representatives Cathy Kipp and Meg Froelich, signed by Governor Polis on May 27, 2022, the study assesses the health of Colorado’s native pollinators, evaluates state policies for safeguarding pollinators, and makes recommendations on how to preserve and protect pollinators in Colorado.

    Governor Polis Provides $1 Million in Non-Profit Grants to Help Protect Colorado’s Places of Worship from Targeted Violence

    DENVER - Today, Governor Polis announced awards for one million dollars of additional Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) funding recently unanimously approved by the Joint Budget Committee for 30 non-profit organizations such as synagogues, mosques, and churches, to support physical security measures for organizations that are at high risk of attack due to their ideology, beliefs, or mission, often places of worship. This program was created when Governor Polis signed the Colorado Nonprofit Security Grant Program legislation, sponsored by Representatives Dafna Michaelson Jenet and Iman Jodeh, and Senators Kevin Priola and Chris Hansen, on June 7, 2022. The Joint Budget Committee unanimously approved this additional $1 million in funding on Wednesday, Dec 20th.

    Governor Polis’s Supplemental Budget Proposal Builds on Historic Investment in Education and Behavioral Health, Plans to Save People Money

    DENVER - Today, Governor Polis and the Office of State Planning and Budgeting (OSPB) submitted a supplemental budget proposal to the Joint Budget Committee (JBC). This builds on the Governor’s November 1st budget proposal which focused on fully funding education, creating more housing for all Coloradans, protecting Colorado’s environment, and making Colorado one of the top ten safest states. Governor Polis and his budget focus on ensuring that as we approach 2026, life in Colorado is more affordable, sustainable, and livable for all Coloradans.
