    Colorado Governor Polis Applauds Biden Administration for Thompson Divide Protections

    DENVER - Today, Governor Polis released the following statement on the Biden Administration decision to finalize protections for the Thompson Divide. These protections are part of the CORE Act, alongside the designation of the Camp Hale National Monument by President Biden in 2022. Governor Polis was an early sponsor of the CORE Act while in Congress and in advancing the Camp Hale National Monument designation.

    Governor Polis, Colorado Energy Office Announce $21 Million to Expand Colorado’s Nation-Leading EV Charging Network

    DENVER -  Governor Jared Polis and the Colorado Energy Office (CEO) announced $21 million in grant awards Thursday through the Direct-Current Fast-Charging (DCFC) Plazas program. Funded through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI)  Program, part of President Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the state’s Community Access Enterprise (CAE), these grants create 290 new fast charger ports at 46 different sites across the state, expanding Coloradans access to fast, affordable, and reliable EV chargers. This will increase Colorado’s existing public fast-charger network of more than 1,000 ports by about 28%.

    Governor Polis Celebrates Colorado Cannabis Industry, Joins Cannabis Business Office in Launching Pilot Access to Experts Program

    DENVER - Today, Governor Polis and the Cannabis Business Office (CBO) within the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade (OEDIT) announced a pilot program to support Colorado’s social equity licensed cannabis businesses as they grow. The Governor announced the new pilot, Access to Experts, at the Minority Cannabis Business Association (MCBA) Equity Workshop Tour, which focused on the importance of Colorado’s diverse cannabis industry. Access to Experts will connect eligible businesses to subject matter experts in compliance, marketing and financial consulting at low or no cost.

    Governor Polis, Sysco Celebrate the Launch of Electric Vehicle Tax Credit

    DENVER- Today, Governor Polis celebrated the recent launch of the electric vehicle tax credit alongside Colorado Energy Office Director Will Toor, Rep. Junie Joseph, and representatives from Sysco, who are launching their first fleet of electric trucks in Colorado as a result of HB23-1272. The bill, sponsored by Senators Lisa Cutter and Steve Fenberg and Representatives Mike Weissman and Junie Joseph, created new and expanded electric vehicle tax credits to promote light-duty vehicles and trucks.

    Governor Polis Welcomes Secretary Becerra to Colorado, Highlights Colorado’s Leadership to Make Prescription Drugs More Affordable

    DENVER - Today, Governor Polis welcomed Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra to Colorado where he and the Secretary discussed Colorado and the Biden Administration’s leadership to save people money on prescription drugs. The Governor and Secretary discussed efforts to continue lowering healthcare costs, specifically prescription drugs, and state and federal efforts to support Latino healthcare providers.

    Governor Polis Opposes Removal of Colorado Air National Guard Space Units

    DENVER - Today, Governor Polis called on the Department of Defense to retain Colorado’s authority over Colorado Air National Guard space units. This call was in response to a legislative proposal from the Department of the Air Force for the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), that would strip Colorado Air National Guard space units from the state and would override existing law that requires Governor consent before National Guard units can be removed from a state. The removal of these units from Colorado would negatively impact state-based citizen service members, and create significant national security issues.

    Creating New Jobs: Three Businesses Expand in Pueblo County Through Rural Jump-Start Program

    DENVER — Today, Governor Polis and the Business Funding & Incentives Division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade (OEDIT) announced the first three businesses to join the Rural Jump-Start (RJS) program in Pueblo County: AMCON Distributing Company, Ask Oracle and Fomcore. Collectively, these companies expect to create 59 full time jobs above the average annual wage in Pueblo County.

    STATEWIDE - The Colorado Energy Office opened its first competitive application cycle for the state’s Geothermal Electricity Tax Credit Offering (GETCO) today. Following Governor Polis’ Heat Beneath Our Feet initiative as chair of the Western Governors Association to explore opportunities to deploy geothermal technology in the region, Colorado is continuing its global leadership in geothermal development by launching one of the nation’s first state tax incentives for geothermal electricity investment and production. Geothermal energy has seen significant developments in the past several years, offering the potential to unlock reliable, affordable, and clean energy across Colorado.
