Governor Polis Appoints William Lindstedt to Represent Senate District 25

Tuesday, December 30, 2025

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis appointed William Lindstedt to represent Senate District 25 in the Colorado State Senate. This appointment is effective immediately and fills a vacancy created by the passing of Faith Winter. With this appointment, Lindstedt will serve until the convening of the first regular session of the General Assembly after the 2026 general election.

Lindstedt was voted for by a Democratic vacancy committee to fill this seat earlier this month. After the vacancy committee process, the Secretary of State did not receive the required paperwork to complete certification of the vacancy, which is due within thirty days from the date the vacancy occurs.

This is Governor Polis’s second appointment to the state legislature in his time as Governor. In 2022, Governor Polis appointed Don Wilson to represent House District 19 following the resignation of former Rep. Tim Geitner and because a vacancy committee did not certify a selection within the statutorily allotted time frame.

As required by statute, if the vacancy committee fails to certify a selection within 30 days, Governor Polis is required by Colorado law to make this appointment within five days of the failure to certify.
