Gov. Polis appoints Hinsdale County Court Judge

DENVER — Gov. Jared Polis today announced the appointment of James R. McDonald as a Hinsdale County Court Judge in the Seventh Judicial District. His appointment is occasioned by the retirement of the Hon. Alvin G. Lutz.

McDonald has been a solo practitioner since 2003. His practice focuses on family, criminal, personal injury, and municipal matters. He is also a Municipal Judge for the City of Gunnison (2005-present); Municipal Judge for the City of Alamosa (2017-present); and Municipal Judge for the Town of South Fork (March 2020-present). McDonald earned his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1989 and his J.D. from Vermont Law School in 1996.

McDonald’s appointment is effective May 29, 2020.
