Governor Polis Statement on Once in Generation Bipartisan Federal Infrastructure Bill

Wednesday, July 28, 2021

DENVER - Today, Governor Jared Polis released a statement following news that the U.S. Senate has reached an agreement on federal infrastructure legislation that will move the bill towards a vote.

“This is a once in a generation opportunity and I’m thrilled to hear that members of the Senate are taking up the federal infrastructure bill. This bipartisan bill will create jobs, help fix our roads and bridges, invest in transit and Front Range Rail, take on climate change, and protect the water we drink,”  said Governor Jared Polis. “This federal package will pair strongly with our state’s historic bipartisan infrastructure plan that is already in motion making our roads safer and better for all Coloradans. I thank the bipartisan group of senators and President Biden for working across the aisle to get things done for Coloradans and our country.”

Governor Polis was one of the first governors in the country to support this federal infrastructure framework.

This federal infrastructure deal follows Colorado’s historic, bipartisan transportation package Governor Polis signed into law this month which will create a dynamic, 21st Century transportation system that will drive Colorado’s economic comeback, establish a sustainable funding source to improve Colorado roads, invest in electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and expand multi-modal and transit options to reduce congestion and improve air quality.
