Gov. Polis Partners with Community-Based Organizations, Hosts Clinics as Part of Vaccines for All Plan

Friday, June 4, 2021

DENVER - As part of Governor Polis’ Vaccines for All efforts, the State of Colorado is allocating vaccines to community-based organizations. All of these clinics focus on vaccinating underserved Coloradans and span a variety of diverse communities.

“To the nurses, doctors, volunteers, and organizers who have committed their time and resources to get more Coloradans vaccinated, thank you,” said Governor Jared Polis. “Delivering this lifesaving vaccine across all four corners of our state is only possible with the dedication of each and every person and organization that has played a critical role in vaccinating Coloradans.”

We encourage everyone interested in an appointment to check availability with each organization and schedule an appointment in advance.

FRIDAY, JUNE 4

Colorado Springs Corp & Colorado Springs Silvercrest

“We were honored here at The Salvation Army in Colorado Springs to host a vaccination event on Friday, May 14th.  We were excited that we were able to provide a safe and easily accessible location for our neighbors to receive their COVID-19 vaccine.  We want to thank 9 Health: 365, their volunteers, and staff for joining us for this wonderful event!” said Captain Doug Hanson, El Paso County Coordinator.

SATURDAY, JUNE 5

Aurora Community Connection Family Resource Center

“For 14 years, Aurora Community Connection (ACC) family resource center has promoted increased access to health and education in north Aurora, drawing from specific expertise in supporting low-income, Spanish-speaking Latinos. ACC recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic has hurt low-income Latinos in disproportionate ways, so [we engage] in comprehensive efforts to provide information and meaningful access to the vaccine. ACC also recognizes that many low-income individuals are impacted by chronic disease--but [are] unaware because of a lack of access to health care. So on Saturday, June 5, ACC is hosting a free COVID-19 Vaccine clinic, that also includes diagnostic screening for factors tied to chronic disease,” said Dr. Robin Waterman, Executive Director of the Aurora Community Connection family resource center.

Empower Community High School

“Empower Community High School is a special place grounded in love and a deep sense of community. We are intentionally small to better service the needs of our diverse school population. Empower is proud to be hosting a vaccine clinic to increase access to immunization in our community. In addition, we have raised approximately $260K in our Justice Fund to help folks meet immediate emergency needs (shelter, food, etc...) throughout this pandemic. That’s what we mean by love in action,” said Wisdom Amouzou, Co-Founder & Executive Director of Empower Community High School.

Girls Inc of Metro Denver

"Girls Inc. of Metro Denver is a trusted resource for our girls and their families. We understand the power of relationships that are rooted in community. The relationships Girls Inc. fosters create long lasting impact for the girls we serve, including access to healthy living and direct health care resources such as this vaccination clinic. Grass roots partners like Girls Inc. are integral to the health of our communities, and we take pride in our ability to provide these services to our families,” said Sonya Ulibarri, President and CEO.

Salvation Army (Aurora Corp) & 9 Health:365

“9Health:365 (previously 9Health Fair), a 42-year-old Colorado community non-profit, is passionate about providing preventive health access for any and every Coloradan every day of the year.  We are honored to be partnering with the Governor’s Office, CDPHE, Safeway, the Salvation Army and many other community partners to make one of our most important prevention tools - a COVID-19 vaccine - available to any and all community members. To-date, we have helped to provide over 33K vaccines through our partnerships and we look forward to continuing to help Coloradans have access to the vaccine. This weekend, we are pleased to be serving Colorado by offering vaccine clinics at a variety of locations including two Salvation Army locations in Denver and Aurora,” said Gary Drews, 9Health:365 CEO.
