Governor Polis Makes Stops, Hosts Bill Signings in Denver

DENVER - Today Governor Jared Polis made several stops around Denver to show support for the work of several organizations that are working to power Colorado’s comeback. 

“It’s great to see our state getting back to normal in so many different ways, from visiting the Denver Zoo’s newest public attraction to seeing the resiliency of Colorado children in action,” said Governor Polis. “Our continued push to end this pandemic and make Colorado even stronger wouldn’t be possible without the lifesaving vaccine. I encourage everyone who has yet to get the vaccine to make a plan to get protected as soon as you can.” 

Governor Polis started his day at the Denver Zoo to celebrate the opening of the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Animal Hospital to the public. Visitors can now watch the zoo’s veterinary team in action delivering care to the thousands of animals living at the Denver Zoo. 

Governor Polis then headed to Swigert International School, a public school in Denver that serves Colorado’s children from pre-K through 5th grade. There, the Governor toured the school and met with faculty, students, and staff as the school celebrated a “Day of Public Service.” Governor Polis had the opportunity to join students as they worked on community projects. 

At Dumb Friends League, a Denver-based animal shelter, Governor Polis signed HB21-1160, Care Of Dogs And Cats In Pet Animal Facilities. 

Governor Polis then stopped at the Colorado General Assembly’s clothing drive at the State Capitol. At the Capitol, Governor Polis signed HB21-1044, Winery License Include Noncontiguous Areas and HB21-1241, Employee-owned Business Loan Program.
