Gov. Polis Partners with Community-Based Organizations, Hosts Clinics as Part of Vaccines for All Plan

Friday, May 7, 2021

DENVER - As part of Governor Polis’ Vaccines for All efforts, the State of Colorado is allocating vaccines to community-based organizations. All of these clinics focus on vaccinating underserved Coloradans and span a variety of diverse communities.

“The best way to power Colorado’s comeback is to continue our robust efforts to vaccinate all Coloradans who want it. Because of our community partners, we’re able to meet Coloradans in diverse communities across our state to provide the safe, free and live-saving vaccine that is our ticket back to a thriving economy and the Colorado we know and love,” said Governor Jared Polis.

We encourage everyone interested in an appointment to check availability with each organization and schedule an appointment in advance.

Greater Ignacio Community COVID Vaccination POD

“The Greater Ignacio COVID vaccination clinics are truly a grassroots effort which with the help from CDPHE and San Juan Basin Public Health Department have resulted in over 2500 shots in the arms of community members through the Vaccine Equity Program.  The Town of Ignacio, the Ignacio School District and the Los Pinos Fire Department have together with 50-60 volunteers executed seven clinics providing vaccinations to community members who don't have easy access to vaccination clinics in neighboring towns.  This effort has required a lot of volunteer time and energy and the response and feedback from recipients has been positive, meaningful and with a lot of gratitude to the program and volunteers. One recipient replied in a thank you card to a volunteer and said, "You are one of the angels who walk among us," said Mark Garcia, Interim Town Manager.

Our bilingual Promotoras take care of recruiting, education, registration, and support during the vaccination process. This creates an atmosphere that is caring, safe, and culturally welcoming for the Spanish-speaking community.”
