Governor Polis Visits Colorado Springs to Support Small Business, Visit USPS and Community Vaccination Event

Friday, April 23, 2021

Colorado Springs - To support Colorado’s economic recovery and promote vaccinations in Southern Colorado, Governor Polis today visited a variety of small businesses and vaccination clinics in Colorado Springs.

“It was a wonderful day to be back in Colorado Springs, and I was thrilled to stop by a few local small businesses and vaccination clinics,” said Governor Jared Polis. “We continue powering the Colorado comeback by getting lifesaving shots into arms, because we know that increasing protection from this deadly virus is the ticket to strengthening our economy and helping our state build back stronger from this pandemic. Just as providers across the state are working to vaccinate Coloradans, small businesses in every community are working to help people get back on their feet and back to some sense of normalcy. We’re almost there, Colorado. If you haven’t been vaccinated yet, make a plan, and sign up now -- not just for yourself, but for the people you love and your entire community.”

Governor Polis kicked off the day at a USPS Postal Workers vaccine clinic, where 100 workers were vaccinated. Colorado has partnered with USPS and postal worker Labor Unions to develop a plan to vaccinate the 10,000 USPS employees in communities across the state. USPS workers play a critical role in Colorado’s economy and have worked day in and day out throughout the pandemic.

Next, the Governor visited small businesses, Mash Mechanix Brewery Co. and Sasquatch Cookies, to learn more about how this pandemic has impacted them and how the state can continue supporting these businesses as they grow and serve their communities.

The Governor then visited a community vaccination clinic at Jet Wing Clinic - Peak Vista Community Health Centers, and finished the day with a tour of the newly built Weidner Field, home of the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
