Governor Polis Takes Executive Action in Response to Winter Cold Snap and Fremont County Incident

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis issued two Executive Orders. The first affirms verbal action taken in response to extreme cold temperatures on January 11, 2024, and the second provides additional financial assistance to the Hazardous Materials Incident in Fremont County. 

Governor Polis memorialized his verbal order from January 11, 2024, declaring a state of disaster emergency to support Coloradans during extreme cold temperatures and winter weather throughout Colorado, and activating the National Guard to respond to and provide support during this severe winter weather. The Executive Order also allocates funds related to the disaster.

Governor Polis issued a second Executive Order to provide an additional $220,000 for DNA testing related to the Hazardous Materials Incident in Fremont County
