Lt. Governor Primavera Celebrates Work of Colorado Disability Funding Committee, Visits Grant Recipient Domino Service Dogs

LAKEWOOD - Today, Colorado Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera visited the non-profit Domino Service Dogs to talk about the importance of serving Coloradans with disabilities, the incredible power of animals, and the work the Colorado Disability Funding Committee is leading to aid organizations serving people with disabilities.

“With one in four Colorado adults living with a disability, we know just how important it is to make sure our disability community is well served,” said Lt. Governor Primavera. “Thanks to  the Colorado Disability Funding Committee and important organizations like Domino Service Dogs, we are able to find innovative opportunities to expand support for people with disabilities here in Colorado.”

Domino Service Dogs was founded in 2013 with a mission to provide education and training to people with disabilities and their dogs so they can lead the active and independent lives they desire. Domino Service Dogs has received three grants from the Colorado Disability Funding Committee to support their work.

“The funding Domino Service Dogs has received from the Colorado Disability Funding Committee has allowed DSD to grow into the organization it is today. Domino Service Dogs was founded by people with disabilities, run by people with disabilities for the benefit of people with disabilities. To date DSD has served more than 100 service teams,” said Barbara Henry Founder of Domino Service Dogs.

The Colorado Disability Funding Committee supports disability application assistance to help Coloradans with disabilities access the financial and medical supports they qualify for, as well as, new & innovative programs benefiting Colorado's disability community. The Committee auctions the rights to personalized Colorado license plate configurations and has an auction open now at coloradoplates.org, as well as the highly popular historic license plate designs available in black, red, and blue. The proceeds from these sales fund grants to nonprofits serving Coloradans with disabilities. Their largest grant round to date runs through January 31, 2024, and will award $500,000 to community organizations.
