Colorado Disability Funding Committee Releases Casa Bonita, South Park License Plate Collection to Benefit Coloradans with Disabilities

DENVER — Today, Colorado launched an auction for the rights to 17 official state license plate configurations paying homage to the scheduled reopening of Casa Bonita and the motley South Park gang. Bidding starts at $100 and features one of a kind plates ready for roadway use including CSABNTA, CLFDIVR, STHPRK, TACOS, and GO COWS. The online auction runs through Thursday, May 25 at 7 p.m. MT. Auction proceeds will support the Colorado Disability Funding Committee, which provides grants to support disability application assistance and programs that provide Coloradans with disabilities the resources they need to thrive. 

“Casa Bonita and the characters in South Park are iconic in Colorado.  This license plate auction pays tribute to that legacy while providing continued transformative support to non-profit organizations helping make sure Coloradans with disabilities can thrive,” said Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera.

Individuals participating in the auction can bid on the right to own the use of the configuration of letters and numbers on their Colorado license plate or have the ability to purchase a novelty plate and retain the exclusive rights to use the configuration on their Colorado license plate at a later date. The buyer also has the rights to resell the configuration through the Colorado Disability Funding Committee in the future. Individuals are responsible for paying all standard registration fees, a personalized plate production fee, and any additional fees for a designer background, including the 4 historic backgrounds that are now available and also benefit the Colorado Disability Funding Committee, if they do not want the standard white and green license plate. 

The May the 4th Star Wars themed auction which closed on May, 11 raised $8,600, selling the rights to 12 plate configurations including OB1WAN which sold for $1,250. Graphics of the license plate configurations for the current auction can be found in this folder.
