The Department of Revenue anticipates providing the Retail Sales Reports for 2016-2018 in late September 2019 with the same data that has been available in the previous reports. Thank you for your patience.

Colorado Retail Sales and Sales Tax Summaries

Colorado Retail Sales and Sales Tax information are summarized in the following reports.  Self-reported retail sales tax information are submitted via the Colorado Retail Sales Tax Return (Form DR 0100).  The published reports are derived from returns which reflect taxes for sales made during a filing period (month, quarter, or annual).  Sales tax returns are filed the month following the reporting period.  For example, taxes incurred in January are reported in February. 
County reports are available monthly and city reports are available quarterly.  Monthly county reports can be added together to produce quarterly and annual summaries for calendar year and fiscal year. Quarterly city reports can be added together to determine annual summaries for calendar year and fiscal year.
The Department of Revenue categorizes businesses using the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). "Industry Category" is the standard used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy. All industry categories are reported to the Department of Revenue by the taxpayer at the time of initial account registration. Frequency of Reporting and Version Updates

These non-statutory reports are provided as a courtesy as soon as data are available and time permits. We do not maintain a release schedule.

Self-reported sales tax data comes from sales tax returns that are always subject to change due to amended, late, or corrected filings. Monthly reports are updated three times (i.e., total of four versions) and quarterly reports are updated once (i.e., total of two versions). The data on the website is the most current version available.
