In 2001 the City began operating Micro-Floc treatment plant. The plant has a capacity of six million gallon a day. current usage averages 1. 2 million gallons a day during the summer and 650 thousand gallons per day during winter.
The Water Treatment Plant is operated in compliance with CDPHE Regulation 11.
In April of 2011 the city's sewer treatment plant went online. the treatment plant was built as part of the prison construction project, and turned over the city. It is an Aero-mod activated sludge plant with the capacity of . 75 million gallons per day.
