Sandbag Training - April 6th at 10:00 am - Walsenburg (west of school athletic field)

The United States Army Corps of Engineers will be conducting a local sandbag training course on Saturday, April 6, at 10:00 AM. The training will be held at the west end of the school athletic field in Walsenburg.

  • Those attending should bring their own shovels (rounded is best) gloves, and wear boots and long pants, and be prepared for possible cool or wet weather.
  • The training should last about 2&1/2 hours.
  • Filling sandbags is hard work, and requires kneeling, bending, and lifting bags weighing 50 to 70 pounds.

Those attending will be able to get free sandbags and fill material, for building their own protection structures. Individuals will need to provide their own transportation for the materials &/or filled bags.
