In the past few weeks, the District has received an increased number of calls from customers reporting high consumption on their most recent water bill. U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program provided an award of $433,000 in federal funding to purchase a mobile live-fire training unit for the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC). These federal funds will help the state fire training program acquire this new resource to allow firefighters access to a safe, controlled live-fire training environment.
The Office of Behavioral Health is assisting community partners in planning and promoting events for International Overdose Awareness Day, a global event held annually on Aug. 31. The day aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths.
The Office of Behavioral Health’s Evaluation Team presented their Drug Trends analysis report to the Substance Abuse Trend and Response Task Force on Aug. 2, 2019. This report summarized findings from a 10-year trend analysis based on substance use treatment data from OBH-licensed facilities. The analysis focused on the six main substances that comprise 98% of all substance use treatment records: Alcohol, Marijuana, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Heroin, and Prescription Opioids. OBH is highlighting the new Administrative Services Organizations (ASO) that took over management of the state’s comprehensive behavioral health crisis system as of July 1. Each ASO is tasked with creating a sustainable network of providers to deliver crisis services to Coloradans within their respective crisis regions, all of which align with the state’s Medicaid regions. This month, we are focusing on Beacon Health Options and Health Colorado, the ASOs collectively responsible for covering the northeastern, south central, and southeastern portions of the state.

The Mineral County Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 to consider a recommendation from the Mineral County Planning and Zoning Commission to approved revisions made to the Mineral County Zoning Regulations.
