Victims' Services

When there is a crime against a person, they become a victim and are protected by specific rules under the Victims' Rights Amendment.

If a police officer offers to contact an advocate and the victim refuses, the police officer still has the responsibility under legislation to provide the victim with certain information, including how to contact Social Services, Mental Health, the Hospital or Clinic if they need medical attention. The officer should also offer literature pertinent to the victim's situation.
