Flu prevention starts with you. The Centers for Disease Control says “Take 3” Actions to fight the flu. Taking the time to take care of yourself and your loved ones is not complicated but can greatly impact your health and those within your community.
The Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) participated in a multi-state meeting in October to discuss the overlap between public health and behavioral health marijuana work. The Multi-State and Public Health Learning Collaborative Meeting, convened annually by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Foundation and SAMHSA and held in Denver this year, brought together public health and behavioral health officials from Alaska, California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
The Office of Behavioral Health recently awarded Persistent Drunk Driving and Law Enforcement Assistance Fund grants to three community groups, Team Wellness & Prevention (Larimer County Coalition), Celebrating Healthy Communities (La Plata, Montezuma, Dolores and San Juan counties) and Eagle River Youth Coalition (Eagle County). Each community received $156,500 for the first year and is projected to receive that amount for the next four years as well.
A recent training in Denver brought together 17 collegiate prevention teams from across Colorado to share lessons learned from current campus projects aimed at preventing alcohol and drug use, misuse and abuse.
The Office of Behavioral Health contracted with the Colorado Health Institute (CHI) to hold recent conversations across the state that drew more than 200 people to discuss how to prevent substance abuse.
