Surge Protection

Lightning can strike anywhere at any time. Meter socket surge protectors are the first line of defense for protecting homes against power surges from strikes that directly hit the distribution lines. It is possible for lightning to enter a home through other sources such as household appliances, computers, garage door openers, and other electronic devices. Therefore to provide additional protection for 120-volt appliances it is recommended that outlet protectors such as wall-socket or strip surge protectors be utilized on interior outlets.

For the purchase and installation of a residential meter socket surge protector, the application form must be completed and mailed, along with payment, or selected payment option, to: Town of Estes Park, Utilities Department, Suite 100, P.O. Box 1200, Estes Park, CO 80517.
