Larimer County, Communities to Host September Forums on Future of Solid Waste

With a limited lifespan on the Larimer County Landfill, county and city officials want to gather public feedback in September about how solid waste is managed in the region.

Participants will take part in facilitated, small table discussions about how to move from a system based on solid waste disposal management to a system based on resource recovery and materials management. The region is facing the upcoming closure of the Larimer County Landfill (anticipated around 2025) and an increase in population.

Elected officials and staff from Fort Collins, Loveland, Estes Park and Larimer County have formed a Regional Wasteshed Coalition that will host the forums beginning on September 15.
