Building Permits and Plan Review Process

There are a variety of Building Permits issued in the Town of Estes Park depending on the scope of work for the project. This section breaks down the different types of permits and how to properly apply for and obtain a Building Permit, as well as cover the plan review process for specific permits.

Types of Permits:

  1. Residential Building Permits (Structural Work, Plan Review Required)

  2. Commercial Building Permits (Structural Work, Plan Review Required)

  3. Miscellaneous Permits (Non-Structural, generally NO Plan Review Required)
    • Demolition
    • Gas Line
    • Fire Place Insert
    • Radon Mitigation Systems
    • Mechanical (Boilers, Hot Water Heaters, Furnace, AC, Minor Plumbing)
    • Windows & Doors Change of Use (example: convert garage to bedroom)
