Every holiday season, the Blue Santa Program collects non-perishable food, gifts and hygiene products for disabled, shut-in and elderly community members that need a little extra holiday cheer. Blue Santa is sponsored by the Estes Park Police Auxiliary.
The Estes Park Police Auxiliary's Blue Santa program assisted 99 local residents in 2017. Auxiliary members, police officers, staff and their families joined together on Dec. 9, 2017 to deliver food, toiletries and gifts to elderly, disabled adults and shut-ins who needed a little extra cheer during the holiday season. To spread more cheer, Blue Santa also visited with residents at Good Samaritan Village & Prospect Park Living Center. A thank you to all the businesses that allowed Blue Santa jars and boxes in their locations. Also a big thank you to Mountain View Bible Fellowship, Salvation Army, Good Samaritan Village, 3iii, Crossroads Ministries, Rocky Mountain Transit Management & High Peaks Camp. A big thanks to all the supporters in the community who donated -- we couldn't do it without you!
The Estes Park Police Department Auxiliary will have a special collection for the Blue Santa program at the 2018 Halloween celebration taking place in downtown Estes Park Wednesday, Oct. 31. Help fill the backseat of the police vehicle on display with non-perishable food and hygiene products. The largest current need for the Blue Santa program is individually wrapped rolls of toilet paper or paper towels, boxes of tissues, and canned or boxed non-perishable food items. A donation jar will also be available for monetary contributions.
