Great Western Trail Authority Board Vacancy

The Town of Eaton is now accepting letters of interest for an open seat on the Great Western Trail Authority Board. The Great Western Trail Authority is a local government entity, created by an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) between the towns of Eaton, Windsor, and Severance to accept the donation of the abandoned Great Western Railway between the towns under the “railbanking” provisions of the 1983 amendments to the National Trails Systems Act. The Authority’s ongoing responsibility is to plan and construct a public trail on the right-of-way, maintain the trail corridor, and seek funding for the trail through grants and contributions. The Great Western Trail Authority board consists of nine volunteer members, three from each of the towns in the IGA.

The appointment is to fill out the term of a member who has stepped down to become the Great Western Trail manager. A member of the Great Western Trail Authority must be a resident of the Town of Eaton for a minimum of two years prior to their appointment. Letters of interest explaining your qualifications and intent should be addressed to the Mayor and Town Board, Attn: Jeff Schreier, Assistant Town Administrator, and may either be sent to Eaton Town Hall, 223 First Street, Eaton, CO 80615, or via email at

Applications will be accepted until Friday, August 10, 2018 at 5:00PM and appointments for the vacant seat will be made by the Town Board at the August 16th Town Board Meeting.
