Town of Bennett to Hold Municipal Election for Town Board of Trustees
The Town of Bennett will conduct an election on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. The 2020 Town Board election ballot will list four (4) Town Board Trustee seats, and one (1) for Mayor. All available seats are for a four-year term.
Nomination Petitions will be available at the Town Clerk’s office at 8:00 AM on January 7, 2020 and must be returned to the Town Clerk no later than 5:00 PM on January 27, 2020. Only petitions obtained directly from the Town Clerk’s office may be circulated. Blank petition forms may not be copied for the purpose of obtaining additional signatures or to give to other candidates. Petition forms from the Town Clerk’s office may NOT be disassembled. Each candidate must turn in all of his/her petitions at one time.
Every registered elector 18 years of age or older may be a candidate for office, if he/she has resided within the Town for a period of at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election. Residency within the territory annexed to the Town shall count towards the residency requirements in the Town.
Nomination petitions require a minimum of 10 signatures. Each signer must be a registered elector residing within the Town limits. No registered elector shall sign more than one nomination petition for each separate office to be filled.
Persons desiring to vote in the upcoming election and who have not registered to vote must do so on or before Election Day. Persons may register to vote, if living in Adams County at the Adams County Motor Vehicle Office, 355 So. 1st Street in Bennett; and if living in Arapahoe County at the county offices at 5334 South Prince Street in Littleton or Arapahoe County Motor Vehicle Office, 538 N. Highway 36, Byers, CO 80103. Persons may also register to vote online at govotecolorado.com.
