Crack Sealing to Begin Near Bennett School District Wednesday June 26.

In order to maintain proper street conditions, the Town of Bennett Public Works Department will begin crack sealing roads near the Bennett School District on Wednesday June 26, 2019.

The public works department is asking residents to park their vehicles off the streets during the time they are working on their roads.

Public works crews will be working on Wednesday June 26, Thursday June 27, Monday July 1, Tuesday July 2, and Wednesday July 3 on Grant Avenue, Lincoln Avenue and Washington Avenue in between 5th and 7th Street. During this time there will be minimal traffic delays.

The intent of crack sealing is to eliminate open areas where water and moisture can penetrate to the substrate beneath the road surface. When that happens, it can cause soil destabilization, which can lead to roadway issues like potholes, excessive cracking and heaving or sinking of the roads themselves.  This process protects and extends the lives of our roadways.
