Clean Up Day - Prohibited Items

The Alpine East Regional Landfill is a non-hazardous municipal solid waste landfill. This means that they are only permitted to accept items that are considered non-hazardous.

Items that are considered hazardous or prohibited in the landfill include:

  • Paints (can only accept if it is dried out)
  • Oil or Antifreeze
  • Chemicals
  • Liquids – of any kind
  • Batteries
  • Fluorescent Bulbs (non-PCB bulbs are permissible)
  • Tires
  • Anything containing asbestos
  • Any items containing Freon (refrigerators, freezers, water coolers, ect.)
  • Items soaked in Creosote (this is often found in railroad ties)
  • Any type of drugs
  • Untreated human waste

Please note this list serves only as a guideline and may not be comprehensive. Please be aware that there are times when they run into items with which they must seek permission from regulatory agencies prior to acceptance.
