Nomination Petitions Available: Akron Town Hall Starting Tuesday, January 7, 2020 

Nomination Forms Must Be Completed By: Monday, January 27, 2020 by 5:00 PM

The Akron Board of Trustees meets: On the 1st Monday of each month at 7:00 PM for regular meetings.

Person wishing to run for AKRON MUNICIPAL OFFICE MUST meet the following Criteria:
      1. U.S. citizen
      2. At least 18 years of age
      3. Resident of Akron at least 12 consecutive months preceding date of election
      4. Registered elector
      5. Maintains residence throughout term of office

Write-in candidate votes will not be counted unless an Affidavit of Intent has been received. An Affidavit of Intent of Write-In Candidate must be submitted to the Town Clerk no later than 5:00 PM Monday, February 3, 2020.


Qualification to Vote in the Akron Municipal Election
18 years of age
Citizen of the US
Resident of Colorado for 22 days prior to the date of election (April 7, 2020)
Resident of Akron at the time of registration

Voter registration is available online or on this form to be returned to Washington County Clerks Office.

Last day to register to vote in this election: April 7, 2020.


Registered voters for Akron, CO may fill out an application for an absentee ballot. Once the application is completed and signed by the voter it can be returned to Town Hall via email, mail, or the drop box located at the front of Town Hall.  

The applicant’s ballot will be delivered by mail once the application is received at Town Hall and verified to be a registered voter in Akron. 
Ballots instructions and return instructions are within the ballot packet. Please do not forget to sign the Affidavit located on the return envelope in order to be counted.

There is no statutory or constitutional authority that would permit towns to postpone their elections due to the Coronavirus, COVID-19.
