Sales Tax - Spreadsheet Filing

The Department allows retailers with two or more sites (locations) to file electronically using an approved Microsoft Excel spreadsheet if you do not already use an Approved Sales Tax Software Vendor. This spreadsheet service is available as part of Revenue Online. After approval, Excel spreadsheets must be uploaded through Revenue Online. A sample spreadsheet must be reviewed and approved by the Department before a business can file using Excel.

Changes for 2020

The spreadsheet has changed for 2020 due to Colorado sales tax law and the subsequent tax form changes. The 2020 template has different columns than the older version. As a result, the older version cannot be used for 2020 returns.  However, if a return needs to be filed for a period before 2020, please use the older version.  On the 2020 template, there is an additional worksheet for the state service fee, which now has a cap of $1,000.00 for each filing period.  The service worksheet will provide your payment amount.
