Details on 2018 health insurance plans and premiums now available
They include new non-CSR-funded premiums.
DENVER (Oct. 18, 2017) – Today, the Colorado Division of Insurance, part of the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) provided tables and charts offering details on the individual and small group health insurance plans and premiums for 2018. These are details such as the average premium change by insurance carrier, the average premium changes by area and county, and the number of plans by area and county.
You can find these details on at the Division's page for "Health Insurance Filings and Approved Plans" - look under "Approved Plans for 2018."
After last week's announcment by the Trump administration that it would cut off payments for cost-sharing reductions (CSRs) for the individual market, the Division put its contingency plan into place and provided revised premiums to Connect for Health Colorado (see "DOI prepared for administration's cut to CSR funding"). This ensured that the open enrollment period will continue as planned, Nov. 1 - Jan. 12. However the change in premiums delayed the release of these charts and tables.
A public forum to discuss the 2018 health insurance premiums will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 1 - 3 p.m. in room 271 of the Colorado State Captiol. Representatives from the health insurance companies, as well as staff from the Division of Insurance, including Insurance Commissioner Marguerite Salazar, will be in attendance. The forum may also be accessed online. Get details at "Public Forum to Discuss 2018 Health Insurance Premiums."
