Program Description: The CSU Extension 4-H STEM AmeriCorps Program provides 21 part-time and quarter-time AmeriCorps members to serve in eleven counties across Colorado.  Members provide STEM programming during out-of-school time to underserved and at-risk youth (8-18 years old).  Members are based out of local Extension offices to serve youth through partner agencies (schools, community centers, libraries, etc.).  Our goals is that youth in our programs complete at least six contact hours in STEM content and that their attitudes toward school improve as a result.  Through our programming, we encourage youth to develop 21st century skills, graduate from high school, and consider STEM fields in academic and career choices.

Program Impact:

During the 2016-2017 Program Year:

  • 2,654 youth participated in at least one STEM program (subject to change after report revisions)

  • 839 youth completed six or more contact hours in STEM content (subject to change after report revisions)

  • 58 volunteers generated to supported programming
