Meet the Staff

Lourae King photoLourae King, Care Service Director in Huerfano County, has been working in the health care field with extensive experience in Home Health, Hospice, Durable Medical Equipment and non-medical home care programs.  Early in her career, her accounting education led her to involvement in a family owned business for 20 years.  She also utilized her Vocational Certification as a teacher with Trinidad State Junior College.  Thereafter, she became the Business Manager for a health care management company operating five separate medical businesses.  These businesses helped her gain insight into home care programs and Medicare, Medicaid and third-party insurances.   In 1998, she joined the South Central Council of Governments as the Area Agency on Aging and Transit Program Director.  She transitioned to the Care Services Programs in 2002 as the Huerfano Administrator and in 2010 became the Care Service Director of both Las Animas and Huerfano Counties until 2013.   She has been a board member for the last 10 years for the Las Animas Huerfano District Health Department and is well versed on public health programs. A Southern Colorado native by choice, Lourae has been very active in professional and social organizations in both Las Animas and Huerfano Counties.  Lourae and her husband Scott live in La Veta and enjoy the mountain lifestyle in their free time. 

Katie Sporcich PhotoKatie Sporcich joined the South Central Council of Governments in January 2011 as a Case Manager.  She was promoted in 2016 to Lead Case Manager and supervises client staffing and care coordination. Katie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master Degree in Clinical Forensic Psychology. Katie and her husband live in Navajo with their family. 

 

Denae Eccher PhotoDenae Eccher was hired in November 2016 as a Case Manager.  She has extensive background in the nursing home field as both a Certified Nursing Assistant and a Restorative Aide.  She works one-on one with care providers to assure client needs are met per their care planning process. Denae and her family reside in Walsenburg. 

 


Dorothy Martinez PhotoDorothy Martinez was initially hired as an office receptionist and quickly worked her way up to Administrative Assistant.  She splits her time working in the Care Service Program, the Area Agency on Aging Program and the Housing Program.  

 

 

Rebecca Mitchell PhotoRebecca Mitchell is new to the Care Service Program as the Compliance Officer.  Rebecca is charged with assuring compliance of care plans and provider reporting. She has both nursing home and physician office background.  

 



PROVIDER STAFF

During the hiring process, all applicants must pass a criminal background screening and a Department of Regulatory Agency screening. All provider staff must successfully complete 20 hours of skills training prior to being assigned to a client. Thereafter, annual training requirements must be met to continue employment. The Care Service Programs currently employs over 225 caregivers working throughout these counties.
