WHAT IS THE RIDGWAY CREATIVE DISTRICT?
Several answers tell the "big-picture" story:
1) The Ridgway Creative District (RCD) is an initiative of the Town to spur innovation and economic development while building community and supporting creativity and creative entrepreneurship. It is managed by the Town's Community Initiatives Facilitator under the Community Development department.
2) The RCD has twice met the requirements to be certified as a creative district by Colorado Creative Industries, a department of the State Office of Economic Development and International Trade, in 2013 and again in 2018. (It began as a prospective creative district in 2012.)
3) The Ridgway Creative District is also a defined physical location (downtown Ridgway, including River Park Light Industrial), including the people, businesses, and organizations within and around it who are doing something creative with their hands and/or their minds.
4) And the RCD has a team of citizen volunteers called the Creative Advocacy Team (the C.A.T.) which meets monthly to advance the goals of the Creative District (minutes of C.A.T. meetings can be found below).
