CDOT to Perform Road Repair Work

throughout the Southwest Colorado Region


SOUTHWEST COLORADO - The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be starting a road repair project next week on April 9.  This project consists of placing a heated crack sealant into cracks on the highway at several locations throughout southwest Colorado, over the duration of several weeks. The maintenance work will help improve and prolong the life of the roadway.


The road maintenance will take place during the following weeks at these locations:


  1. April 9-17: US 550 Durango - La Plata County (MP 28.20 – 37.30)
  2.  April 18-20: US 550 Ridgway - Ouray County (MP 107-113)
  3.  April 23-May 4: CO184 Mancos - Montezuma County (MP 8.9-26.6)
  4.  May 7-15: CO 141, Nucla/Naturita - Montrose County (MP74-88)


TRAVEL IMPACTS: Motorists may encounter alternating, one-lane traffic during the project with delays of up to 10 minutes. A pilot car will escort vehicles through the work zone. Daytime work hours are scheduled from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.


Travelers are urged to:

  • Follow work zone signage – Use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a work zone.
  • Follow directions from flaggers and pilot car – There will be times when the highway will be down to one lane using a pilot car to guide motorist thru the work zone, be patient be safe.
