Nucla Town Parks

The Town of Nucla has some very exciting news to share! On Tuesday, December 2nd, Great Outdoors Colorado has awarded $197,666 in grant funds to Nucla for a new park. We believe this will help us to create an outdoor space that will support our community as well as those in the surrounding communities for many years to come.

Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) invests a portion of Colorado Lottery proceeds to help preserve and enhance the state’s parks, trails, wildlife, rivers and open spaces. GOCO’s independent board awards competitive grants to local governments and land trusts, and makes investments through Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Created when voters approved a Constitutional Amendment in 1992, GOCO has since funded more than 3,500 projects in urban and rural areas in all 64 counties without any tax dollar support. This combined with our Colorado Health Foundation and Conservation Trust funding will get our community a fantastic new park including covered pavilion, new playgrounds, a five station adult fitness course, a new multipurpose court which will include tennis, basketball and pickleball and last but not least a new splash pad. We thank everyone who has participated over the last five years in helping this dream come true. It took a lot of hard work and dedication to get us this far. We look forward to working close with the community to see this project through.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Christine Fischer of Fischer Project Management & Consulting Services and Travis Bliss of Performance Recreation for all the help in grant writing and project design, as well as Jake Houston and Luke Bolinger from GOCO for their help navigating the system and encouraging Nucla to keep trying.
