The Morgan County Ambulance Service crews provide on-scene Advanced Life Support care for an area of 1,296 square miles of Morgan County. In addition they provide pre-hospital services for parts of Weld County, Logan County, Washington County, Adams County and/or an additional 1,300 square miles. MCAS responds on average to eight calls per day, including 9-1-1 and hospital transfers.

MCAS operates a total of 7 ambulances.  Our highly trained paramedic's and EMT's staff two Advanced Life Support ambulances 24 hours a day. One crew being stationed in Fort Morgan and one in Brush. Secondary or overflow calls are covered by dedicated off-duty staff and/or part-time/volunteer personnel.

Our current employees, including part-time/volunteers consist of 14 paramedics, 2 EMT intermediates and 9 EMT basics. We have a full-time staff of 12 personnel. Those personnel are broken up into three, four person crews. The crews work a rotation of 72 hour shifts followed by six days off. During their shifts and in addition to responding to calls for service, crews work on many projects as well as training and education. They're also responsible for maintaining equipment and supplies. In order to optimize coverage and lessen response times, crews will often change locations to position themselves for a faster response.

MCAS has a service area of over 7,000 square miles including mutual aid areas of neighboring counties. We work closely with state and local law enforcement, local communications centers, regional helicopter services and volunteer fire departments taking great pride in providing our communities and visitors to Morgan County with the best pre-hospital care possible. Our mutual aid agreements with neighboring providers assure a more timely response to outlying areas.

Patients are transported to one of the two local hospitals within Morgan County, a level 3 trauma center located in Fort Morgan and a level 4 trauma center located in Brush. Patients in the extreme western portion of our county as well as many of the patients requiring helicopter transport are often transported to Northern Colorado Medical Center, a level 2 trauma center located in Greeley, CO or level one centers located in Denver, CO.
