Cannabis Oil and Drug Tests

Cannabis oil is a concentrated extract from the cannabis plant. It can be made from pure tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), pure cannabidiol oil (CBD), or a combination of both. While cannabis use is legal in Colorado, employers still have the right to require drug tests and make their own policies about drug usage, including not hiring or firing employees who fail a drug test. This includes medical cannabis use, even for employees with a medical registration card.

Roadway Safety

Longer and warmer days make summer a good time for roadwork to begin. It also puts more drivers on the road. This can be a dangerous combination. Between 1982 and 2014, work zone crashes killed 24,745 people according to the Federal Highway Administration. There are precautions that both road workers and drivers can take to ensure that everyone on the road has a safe summer. 

Motor Vehicle Body Style Change

When changing plate types, the body style on the title must be corrected.
Truck/Tractor Interchangeable Body Styles
  • Owners of truck/tractor vehicles sometimes interchange body styles and vehicle types by adding and/or removing the 5th wheel hitch/bed.  The appropriate license plate to issue to this vehicle type is illustrated below.
    • Title shows the vehicle as a truck-tractor (TT)
    • The vehicle is issued light truck or GVW plates depending upon the weight of the vehicle.

Outside Ballot Drop Boxes

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Board of County Commissioners for approval of our Sales Tax Grant Application in the amount of $5,000.

These funds will be used to purchase portable outside ballot drop boxes and surveillance cameras for the towns of Crestone and Sargents.

We would also like to give a shout-out to the town of Center for allowing us to use their existing outside ballot drop box and security cameras.

December Specific Ownership Tax Miscalculation

Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles announces refund process for residents affected by December specific ownership tax miscalculation
DENVER, Tuesday, March 12, 2019 – The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles, in conjunction with Colorado counties, has established a refund process for those individuals affected by a Specific Ownership Tax (SOT) miscalculation which caused them to pay a higher SOT rate when they renewed their motor vehicle registration.
