Self-Monitoring Blood Pressure Program

Do you have high blood pressure? The Las Animas-Huerfano Counties District Health Department has a self-measured blood pressure monitoring program. Through this program, the Health Department will loan a blood pressure monitor to anyone in need of keeping track of their blood pressure due to:

  • Being recently diagnosed with high blood pressure
  • A change in blood pressure medication
  • Having problems controlling blood pressure

Monitors are usually loaned anywhere from two weeks to one month. There is a contract that needs to be signed with an agreement to return the monitor on a specific date. Also provided with the monitor are instructions on the correct technique for checking a blood pressure, and a log sheet to record the blood pressure readings. For more information, call (719) 846-2213 for Trinidad or (719) 738-2650 for Walsenburg or stop in and get your blood pressure checked free of charge.
