About the IEC
The Independent Ethics Commission ("IEC") was created as a result of the passage of a voter-initiated Constitutional Amendment in November 2006. The Commission held its first meeting in December 2007 and hired its first Executive Director in June 2008.
The Commission generally meets once per month to review and discuss advisory opinion requests, complaints, and other matters. The meetings are open to the public except when the Commission goes into Executive Session to discuss complaints before a frivolous determination has been made, to receive legal advice, or to discuss pending or imminent litigation or personnel issues. The Agendas for all meetings are posted at least several days prior to a meeting. Minutes of the meetings are posted after they have been approved by the Commission.
