Work to Begin on Colorado Boulevard Reconstruction Phase II
Idaho Springs to receive a revitalization of one of its main streets
IDAHO SPRINGS, COLORADO — The City of Idaho Springs and American Civil Constructors (ACC) will host a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, March 14 at 4 p.m. at the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and Riverside Drive to mark the beginning of Phase II of the Colorado Boulevard Reconstruction Program. Construction officially begins at 7 a.m. that day.
The Colorado Boulevard project is a three-part reconstruction in central Idaho Springs designed to replace storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water lines, and add conduit for electric utilities and fiber optic broadband communications. The project also includes streetscape features such as sidewalks and retaining walls. This phase of the work is a two-season project with a winter shutdown mid-November 2016 – February 2017 and completion scheduled for July of 2017.
Work will begin on Colorado Boulevard at Riverside Drive and extend west to 7th Avenue. Travelers should expect full-road closures at certain parts of Colorado Boulevard throughout the duration of the project. Construction work hours will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. No night or weekend work is scheduled. Traveling delays may occur during this project. A detour will also be specified near the project zone.
The utility work performed by ACC is limited to public infrastructure but makes access to utilities on private properties along the work zone readily available. For this reason, the City of Idaho Springs encourages property owners adjacent to the work zone to consider updating or replacing their private water or sewer lines at this time. ACC will assist in coordinating completion of work with an independent contractor. The cost of work on private property is at the owner’s expense. Please contact the project hotline at 303-317-3311 for more information about contracting work on private properties.
ACC is a Colorado based contractor with 41 years of experience working in the Rocky Mountains including remedial work in Clear Creek and the reconstruction of State Highway 119 in Blackhawk.
