In 2017, the City of Florence started a sidewalk replacement initiative to improve the walkability of the town, especially on the busiest section of Main St.
This project allowed business owners (and later, homeowners) to have their sidewalks replaced for just the cost of the concrete. The demand for sidewalks was so incredibly high that there is a short waiting list, ordered by the date the application was submitted.
If you would like to fill out an application, follow this link or pick one up at City Hall (600 W. 3rd St).
Here is the list of homes and businesses that have applied to have their sidewalks replaced. The Department of Public Works is using these as a first-come-first-served guideline for replacements, but the order is subject to the discretion of the Public Works Director when mitigating circumstances arise.
