Director of Public Works — Sam Elstun
Hello, my name is Sam Elstun. I am a native of Kansas, but spent most of my younger years on the East coast. I moved to Colorado in 1985 and graduated from Florence High School in 1987. I became employed by the City of Florence as a refuse collector (a.k.a. trash man) in the summer of 1989. I became a full time employee in August of 1990. Yes, I finally got my uniform! At the time, Martin Duran was my boss and trained me in a number of areas. I moved up from refuse collector to the Streets Dept and Water Distribution. Now, as the Director of Public Works, I do a combination of them all.
I have been employed with the City of Florence for 26 years with many more to come! I am very excited about the direction the City is going in the future.
I am married to my loving wife, Debi, and we have two boys, Christopher and Timothy and of course our daughter in law Katie. We have two dogs- Nay and J.
