Estes Valley Recreation and Park District (EVRPD), provider of numerous recreational and community activities in the Estes Valley, is pleased to provide a robust program of senior services for the Estes Valley community. SAFETY

Technology and Scams: Staying Safe on the Internet

With increased use of the internet, email, and smartphones, there are now more ways than ever for scammers to contact their victims. This presentation will equip you with information on how to recognize scams on the internet, social media, and email, and provide you with ways of avoiding unwanted contact from scammers.

This free program will take place on Tuesday, October 9 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the community center. Mark Fetterhoff, Senior Program Specialist for AARP, will present. Advanced registration is required.

Home Fire Safety

Join John Jerome, Estes Valley’s Fire Marshal, to learn about a variety of home fire safety topics including: cooking and kitchen safety, home heating, fire escape planning, smoke alarms, emergency information sheets, and home fire safety checklists.

This free program will take place on Monday, October 15 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the community center. Advanced registration is required.

DAY TRIPS

“A Christmas Story: The Musical” at Boulder Dinner Theater

Ralphie Parker wants only one thing for Christmas: an official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-shot Range Model Air Rifle. “A Christmas Story: The Musical” is a hilarious account of Ralphie’s desperate quest to ensure that this most perfect of gifts ends up under his Christmas tree. Directed on Broadway by Tony Award-winner John Rando and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, this musical is based on the classic 1983 movie, which was itself based on stories by the legendary radio humorist Jean Shepherd.

The trip will take place on Sunday, November 11, departing the community center at 10:45 a.m. and returning approximately 5:15 p.m. The cost is $60 and includes round-trip transportation, show ticket, full dinner, tax, and tip. The registration deadline is Friday, October 12.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Medicare Updates 2019

October 15 through December 7 is the time to review and make changes to your Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) and Medicare Advantage Plan. This presentation will prepare you by providing an overview of changes to plans and to Medicare in general.

Presented by Kim Ferro from the UCHealth Aspen Club, this free program will take place on Tuesday, October 16 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the community center. Advanced registration is required.
