Construction of the EVCC Surpases 50 Percent Completion

Estes Valley Recreation and Park District (EVRPD), provider of numerous recreational and community activities in Estes Valley, reached a major milestone on the construction of the Estes Valley Community Center (EVCC).

With the guidance of Adolfson and Peterson Construction, the EVCC is now more than 50 percent complete.

“We are excited to reach this milestone in the lengthy process of building a state-of-the-art, multigenerational facility for the community members and visitors to Estes Park,” said Teresa Jackson, Manager of Community Center Operations. “The community center was a long-time coming and it is exciting to see the building take shape after many years of planning.”

As part of reaching this point in the construction process, the construction trailer will be moved to Stanley Park near the EVRPD recreation office. This will allow for continuation of site improvements and start the landscaping of the property. The construction site will continue to be closed to the public and every effort will be made to keep the construction trailer out of the flow of traffic during events and activities at Stanley Park.

Advancement in the building now includes the installation of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, commencement of dry wall installation, placement of window panes, installation of some retaining walls, and painting the outside of the building. Even though reaching this milestone took almost a year, the remaining construction will move along very quickly as the workers finish closing up the building and finalizing the interior features and architecture.

Along with the building of the community center is the remodel of the aquatics center, which will become a part of the center. This project is progressing with an anticipated opening date of early November. The scaffolding has been removed in the pool and there are now very clean beams and a fresh coat of paint throughout the pool area. A new sound system has been installed along with new acoustic panels, new light fixtures and new ceiling fans.

In addition to the remodel of the pool, the new community center will also feature:
•    Cubz Den, a children’s play area with Rocky Mountain themed wildlife, a river painted on the floor, and a cabin where kids can play
•    AquaClimb KURVE, a deep water solo climbing experience for all ages
•    a natural color palette with modern tones for everything from wall paint to carpeting to tiles in the locker rooms
•    a golf simulator featuring well-known courses, such as Pebble Beach and St. Andrews
