BEGINNER 1
This class is an introductory class for children who have little to no experience in the water. Students will be taught basic water skills, such as putting their face in the water, holding their breath and blowing bubbles, and entering the pool. They will be working toward propelling themselves through the water and, while assisted, rolling onto their back for a breath. They will also be introduced to kicking while on their back. Prior to moving to Beginner 2, the swimmer will be expected to INDEPENDENTLY kick a short distance with their face in the water, float on their stomach and back, and roll over on their back with no assistance.
Age: 3—5 years
Class length: 30 minutes
Prerequisite: None
Session 1:  2/21—3/21 (Wednesdays)
Session 2:  4/4—5/5 (Wednesdays)
Times: 5:45—6:15 p.m.
Fee: $30
Registration deadline: 2/14; 3/28

BEGINNER 2
This class is for students who have taken and passed Beginner 1. Students will be taught how to roll back to their stomach to kick off the wall and how to exit the swimming pool with no assistance. Swimmers will kick longer distances while incorporating the roll breathing. They will be introduced to and practice arm rotations.
Age: 3—5 years
Class length: 30 minutes
Prerequisite: Completion of Beginner 1 class AND instructor recommendation; or swimmer must be able to independently swim a short distance with their face in the water and roll onto their back to breathe with no assistance.

INTERMEDIATE
In this class, the student will work on proper technique for the freestyle and backstroke. As the swimmer’s strength and coordination increases, the side breath is introduced in the freestyle. Proper backstroke arm technique will be introduced and refined. Time permitting, the dolphin kick will also be introduced.

Class length: 30 minutes
Prerequisite: Completion of Beginner 2 class AND instructor recommendation; or swimmer must be able to independently kick a short distance with their face in the water, incorporating roll breathing and exiting the pool with no assistance.

Stroke drills will be introduced to help refine individual elements of each stroke. Breathing rhythms will be introduced and perfected. Students will be expected to swim full laps at some point during this class. Swimmers will learn the importance of strong kicking through work with a kickboard.

Class length: 30 minutes
Prerequisite: Completion of Intermediate class AND instructor recommendation; or swimmer must have mastered  breathing to the side in freestyle and be able to complete a half lap of correct freestyle and backstroke.

EXPERTS
This is less of a swim class and more of an abbreviated swim practice. However, students will continue to be introduced to new skills as well as continuing work on the four competitive strokes. New skills will include flip turns (both freestyle and backstroke), streamline the dolphin kick off of the wall from freestyle, butterfly and backstroke, and breast stroke pull out. When students have passed the expert level, they can continue to our competitive club swim team or the non-competitive team that’s part of the club.
