MED Employee License

Before You Apply, be aware that applying for or holding a MED Employee License and working within the Colorado Regulated Marijuana Space may have adverse Federal Immigration consequences.

In order to work within Colorado's Regulated Marijuana Industry, you must first apply and be approved for a MED Employee License.  As part of MED's initiatives to increase efficiencies and customer service, rules effective January 1, 2020, collapse the Key and Support License types into a single category - the Employee License.  As of  January 1, 2020, the MED will only issue the Employee License and the application fee will be $100.00.  

  • Key and Support Licenses issued prior to January 1, 2020, will be converted to an Employee License at the licensee's next renewal or if a duplicate badge is requested by the licensee.  

You may apply for this license using the MED Employee License Application.  Please download the application and review it carefully to ensure you are eligible to hold this type of MED license.

You must make an appointment to come into one of our offices to apply for and MED Employee License. At that appointment you will:

*All Offices can accept Checks, Money Orders and Credit Cards, however, credit card payments will incur a service fee of $.75 + 2.25% of the amount charged.  Only the LAKEWOOD office can accept cash payments. 

 Be aware that by applying for an occupational license you have agreed that if your application is approved, you will keep the MED informed of any change of your home address and other contact information.  You can do this via email at dor_medchanges@state.co.us
