Change of Ownership

Any changes in the ownership of a MED licensed marijuana business must be approved by the State Licensing Authority.  Allowable changes include any of the following:

  • the sale of a business to a new owner(s),
  • the addition of a new owner(s) to the existing ownership group,
  • a change in the corporate structure of the ownership group, or
  • the removal of a current member of an ownership group.

A Change of Ownership application may be hand-delivered to the Lakewood Office between 8:00 and 11:00 AM and 1:00 - 4:00 PM.  While an appointment isn't necessary the owner submitting the application will have a brief meeting with an intake staff member to ensure the application is complete.  This type of Change of Ownership application can also be mailed in but may require an in-person meeting should there be any questions or concerns regarding the application.    Applications can be mailed in via the U.S. Postal Service or a delivery service (UPS or FedEx for example) to:

Marijuana Enforcement Division
1707 Cole Blvd., Suite 300
Lakewood, CO 80401

Keep in mind that whether submitted in person or delivered, an application packet that is not accompanied by the full application fee will not be accepted.
