Energy Policy

Production and consumption of energy in Colorado are guided by the laws enacted by Colorado voters and elected officials. Bipartisan legislation and voter-led initiatives form the basis of Colorado’s approach to energy.

With a focus on responsible policies and regulation, four key values drive the state’s growing energy economy and ensure Colorado as a national leader in energy development:

  • Growing jobs and spurring innovation
  • Protecting Colorado’s world-class environment
  • Encouraging collaboration

The Colorado Energy Office works with communities, utilities, private and public organizations and elected officials. CEO monitors legislation at the General Assembly, dockets at the Public Utilities Commission, and other state and federal rule making work in order to provide information and promote policy aligned with its mission and vision.
