State Commissioner of Financial Services
Chris Myklebust was appointed by Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Executive Director Joe Neguse as the State Commissioner of Financial Services in April 2017. He previously served in this position from 2006-2015, prior to his appointment as the State Bank Commissioner. He now serves as the Commissioner for both the Division of Financial Services and the Division of Banking.
The Division of Financial Services protects consumers by regulating and supervising state-chartered credit unions and savings and loan associations, administering and enforcing the Savings and Loan Public Deposit Protection Act, and regulating certain financial activities of life care institutions.
Commissioner Myklebust previously worked in the private sector as a consultant, serving in a number of management capacities throughout the United States and specializing in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, regulatory, legal and compliance, marketing, and business operations. He is a graduate of Regis University in Denver where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management. He also holds a degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and has been professionally licensed in securities and real estate.
