Statement from Colorado Civil Rights Division Director Aubrey Elenis on recent protests in Colorado

DENVER — Colorado Civil Rights Division Director Aubrey Elenis released the following statement today in light of the recent protests throughout Colorado:

“The Colorado Civil Rights Division stands in solidarity with the protestors who are demanding equal rights and equal protections under the laws of the United States. As the entity charged with enforcing the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act, we all-too-regularly see how both overt and systemic racism negatively impacts black Coloradans in everything from where they live, to how they earn an income, and even where they are welcomed to spend their money. It is past time that our whole state shows up for our neighbors in preventing, condemning, and reporting racism wherever it rears its ugly head. If you witness or are the victim of discrimination in the areas of housing, employment, or places of public accommodation, please file a complaint with the division.”
