Colorado Insurance Commissioner named 2015 NAIC Committee leader
Commissioner Marguerite Salazar to chair the Consumer Liaison Committee.
DENVER (Jan. 28, 2015) – Colorado Insurance Commissioner Marguerite Salazar was recently named the 2015 Chair of the Consumer Liaison Committee of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
The NAIC is the U.S. standard-setting and regulatory support organization created and governed by the chief insurance regulators from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. NAIC members, together with the central resources of the NAIC, form the national system of state-based insurance regulation in the U.S.
The Consumer Liaison Committee’s mission is to assist the NAIC in its mission to support state insurance regulation by providing consumer views on insurance regulatory issues. The Committee provides a forum for ongoing dialogue between NAIC Members and Consumer Representatives.
“Hearing the perspective of consumers is critical in the world of insurance regulation,” said Commissioner Salazar. “I’m honored that the NAIC chose me to lead this group, and I am excited to get started.” Marguerite Salazar was appointed by Governor John Hickenlooper as Colorado Insurance Commissioner effective August 19, 2013.
As Commissioner, she is also the chief executive of the Division of Insurance, part of the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
